Chan Mun Choon (Theme Leader)

Chan Mun Choon is a Professor of Computer Science at School of Computing, National University of Singapore. He graduated with a BS in Computer and Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, West Lafeyette, Indiana, in 1990, MSEE in 1993 and Ph.D. in 1997, both from Columbia University. His PhD thesis was on the topic of open programmable network, a precursor of software defined networking (SDN). From 1997 to 2003, he was a Member of Technical Staff in Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies where he worked on network management and cellular network technology. He has 7 US patents covering different technologies related to improving performance of both wired and wireless system. He joined NUS in 2004 and has been working on energy efficient network protocols and mobile computing. His research has been funded by various agencies including the National Research Foundation (NRF), Ministry of Education (MoE), A*STAR, and SMART. He is currently serving as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing (TMC).

Biplab Sikdar (Theme Leader)

Biplab Sikdar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NUS, and he received a BTech degree from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, India, a MTech degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and his Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, USA, in 1996, 1998 and 2001, respectively. His research on security for cyber-physical systems has been funded by the National Science Foundation (USA) and the New York Power Authority, and his work on detecting wireless session hijacks received the best paper award at IEEE GLOBECOM. Biplab has published more than 150 papers and currently serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing. Prior to joining NUS, he was an Associate Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, USA and has held visiting professor positions at MIT (USA), KTH (Sweden), University of Sydney (Australia), IIT Bombay (India), and Kansai University (Japan). He is the recipient of the NSF CAREER award, Tan Chin Tuan Fellowship from NTU (Singapore), the Japan Society for Promotion of Science Fellowship, and the Leiv Eiriksson Fellowship from the Research Council of Norway.
